Network Auditing for FTP Servers

Locate and identify all of the FTP servers in your network. Close down unauthorized FTP servers. Ensure that anonymous FTP is not allowed except where there is a compelling business case for it.

Close unnecessary FTP exposures and protect your company from the costly and embarassing admission of a breach of sensitive corporate or customer data.

FTP/Auditor is a Windows software tool that scans your company's network and identifies all of the FTP servers that are running. For each server that it finds, it provides the "welcome" message the server sends to help you identify the server type and perhaps its purpose.

Additionally, it assesses each FTP server it finds to see if it allows anonymous logon. Anonymous logon means that a user can access files available on the FTP server without having to provide any logon credentials.

Anonymous logon is generally not recommended because it can expose corporate data to unauthorized parties and does not provide any audit trail back to the person who accessed the data.
