Whether you want to look at FTP/WatchDog-z or FTP/WatchDog-D depends on your environment and what FTP activity you want to monitor.
FTP/WatchDog-z is intended for use by organizations using IBM mainframes (z/OS) that want to monitor both mainframe and distributed system FTP. FTP/WatchDog-z is z/OS-based and requires a mainframe installation. It has the ability to monitor both mainframe and distributed system FTP but requires that it be installed and run in a z/OS (mainframe) environment.
FTP/WatchDog-D is a distributed system solution that neither requires a mainframe nor has the ability to monitor mainframe FTP activity. It is intended for environments where either there is not mainframe present or the group that is interested in monitoring FTP usage prefers to run a distributed system solution, not a mainframe-based solution. |
