What are Users doing with FTP?

With FTP servers spread throughout the Enterprise, it is difficult to keep up on what users are doing with FTP. FTP/WatchDog consolidates FTP activity from all of the servers into a single view, thereby making FTP auditing a much more manageable task.

Real-Time FTP Usage

FTP/WatchDog consolidates FTP usage activity from any number of FTP servers into a single view. The FTP usage data is stored in an SQL database for long-term archival compliance. It also provides a real-time view of FTP usage, updated automatically as activity takes place.

Historical Usage Analysis

In addition to real-time FTP usage information, FTP/WatchDog enables detailed auditing of historical FTP usage.

Summary Information

FTP/WatchDog provides five summary view that help organize the FTP auditing process.

View	Description
FTP Usage by Host	Summarizes FTP usage by host system. Highlights the most active FTP servers in the Enterprise.
FTP Usage by Hour	Summarizes FTP usage by hour. Highlights the most active FTP time periods in the Enterprise.
File Usage	Summarizes FTP usage by file name. Highlights what data is coming into and leaving the Enterprise.
User ID Usage	Summarizes FTP usage by user ID. Provides targeted information about who is using FTP and what they are doing with it.
IP Address Usage	Summarizes FTP usage by remote user. Highlights the locations where FTP server access is taking place.

FTP Exception Information

FTP/WatchDog provides three exception views that bring out FTP activity that might need further attention.

Detail Information

FTP/WatchDog provides six detail views that show the details about the FTP activity in the Enterprise.

All Transactions	Shows all of the FTP transactions in chronological order.
Large Transmissions	Show the largest FTP transmissions in descending size order.
Long-Running Transmissions	Shows the longest running FTP transmissions in descending duration order.
Slow Transactions	Shows the slowest running FTP transmissions in ascending speed order.
File Management Transactions	Shows all of the file management transactions (delete, rename, create, etc.).
